Imagine spending holidays and weekends with your closest friends while still having your own home and space in the mountains. This will soon be a reality for Linda and Dennis Karlsson and Jonatan and Sanna Bränström, who have purchased plot Björkfors 1:1427 in Syterbyn, where plans for a new duplex are already underway.
– We have followed the development of Syterbyn for a long time and seen the area's potential. The new lift being ready for Christmas 2026 is a clear starting point that makes the location even more attractive, says Linda Karlsson.
Both families already have vacation homes in Hemavan and have long considered creating something new that fits the life they want for the future. When the opportunity arose in Syterbyn, it felt natural to make the investment together.
– Doing it together feels both more fun and smarter. We can support each other through the entire process, share ideas, and create something together even before the house is finished.
The plan is to build a modern mountain home with a warm feel, natural materials, and generous social spaces where both family and friends can gather for many years to come.
– We are trying to think long-term. It should be a house where the families can gather both now and in the future, as the children get older and perhaps bring their own friends or families.
Right now, work is underway on inspiration, floor plans, and drawings for the next stage of the process.
– A lot of it right now is about gathering ideas and finding the right solutions for how we want to live and use the house over time. The next step will be to start shaping drawings and planning the construction process more concretely.
For the families, the investment is not just about winter life and skiing, even though the proximity to lifts and snowmobile trails is a major reason for choosing the location. Just as important is the peace, the nature, and the opportunity to be in the mountains all year round.
– The beauty of Hemavan is the variety. In winter, both cross-country and alpine skiing are appealing, while summer and autumn are about hiking, nature, and relaxation. We also appreciate that Syterbyn feels tastefully planned and that much of the surrounding nature has been preserved.
Being involved early in the development of a new area feels both inspiring and exciting, says Linda.
– A lot is happening in Hemavan right now, and we think it feels very exciting to be involved from the beginning in an area that will continue to develop for a long time to come.
For both families, the project is ultimately about something quite simple: creating a place to look forward to together. Linda concludes:
– For us, it is very much about the feeling. Finding a place we want to return to again and again.
